Mahamrityunjaya Mantra The great death-conquering mantra, also known as Tryambakam Mantra, is a verse from the Rigveda. It is attributed to Triambaka Trinetra wala, the epithet of Rudra (later associated with Shiva). This verse also appears in Yajurveda. Along with the Gayatri Mantra it is the most widely known mantra of contemporary Hinduism. The great mantra dedicated to Shiva as Mrityunjaya is found in the Rigveda. It is called the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra that conquers death.
